Costa Brava Rock Marks

Girona, Catalonia, Spain · Saltwater · Intermediate

Pine-backed cliffs and rocky coves along the northern Catalan coast, with deep water close in. Spinning from the rocks at first light produces bass, bluefish and the occasional dentex.

Getting there & access

  • Fish from: land-based or boat

If fishing inside the Cap de Creus Natural Park (Girona coast), the park authority requires a special park permit, obtained after environmental and fishing training, in addition to the general recreational fishing licence; permit holders must report catches daily and mark fish caught. Only catch-and-release fishing is allowed in the coves of Murtra, Caials and Tamariua, and fishing is banned in the S'Encalladora Integral Natural Reserve. Check the park's current zoning and rules before fishing.
