Sète Offshore
Sète, Occitanie, France · Saltwater · Advanced
The Gulf of Lion off Sète holds big bluefin tuna through the warm months, often visible smashing bait on the surface. Amberjack and dorado work the offshore structures and fish farms.
Getting there & access
- Fish from: boat
Recreational bluefin tuna fishing in the Mediterranean from a French-flagged or EU-registered recreational or charter vessel requires an annual authorisation from the regional maritime authority (DIRM), applied for with the CERFA form published by the Ministry of the Sea. Vessels flying the flag of a non-EU state may not fish bluefin tuna recreationally. A tuna that is retained must be tagged immediately with the marking ring supplied, and each landing must be declared to FranceAgriMer within 48 hours. Check the Ministry of the Sea and current French and ICCAT rules before targeting tuna.
